Facilitating Talanoa dialogues, 2018.

Talanoa is a traditional word used across the Pacific Islands for inclusive dialogue. The purpose of Talanoa is to create respect and confidence, even in controversial issues, by providing an environment absent of blame. The approach was adopted by the United Nations for the Paris Agreement negotiations.

Tyrsky facilitated Talanoa dialogues in three roundtable discussions at the Ministry of the Environment in 2018. The discussion summaries contributed to the official Finnish government intervention of the United Nations Climate Conference. We also co-facilitated Talanoa dialogues at the Arctic Council International Ministerial Meeting, the Eurocities Environment Forum meeting and the Nordic Council of Ministers meeting at the UN Climate Conference in Poland in 2018.
